My 2-year old 40GB model is beyond outdated. I need either this new system or install a new hard drive myself.

I very much agree with you on this article man. You make a lot of very valid points, and I would like to just elaborate on a few things to show how much I agree with this statement. Xbox Live is an incredible service, and is currently better than PSN in terms of "features". Xbox Live has many features that PSN currently does not have. Cross-game voice chat, cross-game invites, and voice messages just to name a few. These are just a few things that Xbox Live has over Sony's PSN, and these are just a few things that make that service better. More, and better features is all that is really worth that $50 a year subscription fee. When you look at online connectivity and online gameplay for games, there is virtually no difference between PSN and Xbox Live. You still get lag in both, and occasional connection time outs, and errors, along with disconnections. Features is what keeps Xbox Live on top, and I believe that once PSN catches up to those features that Xbox Live has, Xbox Live will be irrelevent if there is still a price to be paid in order to use it. In my honest opinion, Xbox Live isn't completely worth what your paying for. I wish that there was more on Xbox Live to give you enough incenctive to buy a gold membership without having you think about well, do I really want to spend that money on it. I own both an Xbox 360 Elite, and a launch 20gb PS3. O love both services that they have to offer, and all I am saying is that Xbox Live is good for what its worth, but could be better, and should be much better than PSN. If Xbox Live was completely free of network errors, and connection issues like lag, etc. then it would be well worth the $50 a year subscription, but for the people that like you said, just want to go and play with their friends online without all that extra stuff, in my opinion it isn't worth paying for.
