The HD revolution is in full swing, and most HD TV makers have adjusted their models, and Pricing to make it more affordable for us to move beyond our 5000 lbs tube televisions, and into the world of high resolution digital fidelity.
The gaming Industry has fully adopted high definition this generation, and both the Xbox 360, and the PS3 uses the 1280X720 resolution. However, in a recent issue of Develop, Black Rock Studio's David Jefferies Broke his silence claiming that although both HD consoles support 4X Multiscreen Anti-Aliasing, the over head on the Xbox 360 is extremely high when running at 1280x720, and is impossible to accomplish. Most developers have use a different techniques were they drop the resolution down to 2xMSAA to maintain performance, and quality.

Jefferies also says Microsoft has dropped the 1280x720 stipulation, and gives developers the option to choose the resolution that best fits their game. Microsoft in the past has only allowed select developers to make this choice, and most notably with Bungie while creating Halo 3; who's resolution came in at 1152x640. What dose this mean for HD gaming on the Xbox 360? only time will tell.
